Can you connect to a genius who is already dead?
“Can you bind the sweet influences of Pleiades, …?” Job 38:31 (AKJV)
In my previous article I have already mentioned the symbolism around Pleiades and outlined the Personal Pleaid philosophy.
Our society has been built by people influencing each other. Inventions have been made by adding up to the knowledge level of predecessors, innovations by finding new ways how to realize that knowledge.
Renaissance scholars looked back to classical antiquity, Renaissance artist drew inspiration from Classical Greek arts and their ideals, and they were influencing each other. Raphael was influenced by Perugino and Michelangelo. Three and a half century after him, Auguste Rodin was influenced by Donatello and Michelangelo. Mozart was influenced by Bach, Handel, and Haydn. Beethoven was influenced by Mozart and Haydn. George Orwell was influenced by Jack London. Carl Jung was influenced by Nietzsche, Joseph Campbell was influenced by Carl Jung. If you visit Wikipedia and check philosophers in particular, you will notice a number of people they influenced and that influenced them. For example, Jean-Paul Sartre was influenced by Simone de Beauvoir, Freud, Hegel, Nietzsche, Dostoyevsky, Flaubert, Rousseau, and others. However, not always they had a chance or possibility to meet directly, sometimes being divided by centuries of time gaps. Thus we can say that they have been and still are influencing by the spirit of their works.
In case you don’t like the word “influenced”, replace it with “inspired”, the word, which in its Latin root refers to breathing.
Even though some authors are dead, we can still breathe their spirit, and not only in their works… Realize that we are essentially breathing the same air that has been circulating in their lungs.
Well, only considering that it’s now a tiny little bit more polluted :)
But jokes aside. Whether we accept or not, we are influenced by our environments and people around. Healthy influence is therefore so much essential as breathing.
It’s said that “we are the average of 5 people we spend the most time with.”
Maybe you don’t like the idea that you should be so selective in friends, abandon the old ones, find new, then leave and go and replace them with some new ones with even better circumstances, more money, more success. Well, it’s not only about the labels and checking the other’s data. It’s not only the 5 people you spend the most time with that are alive. It’s the people you spend the most time with, regardless dead or alive, those whose spirit you breathe and feel likeness of ideas.
Even if you are at some location, where you cannot spend time or meet with people you would really like, or are bound to meet with people you don’t resonate with, either in your jobs or a family, it’s just much more about the attitude.
“Dwell on the beauty of life. Watch the stars, and see yourself running with them.”
– Marcus Aurelius, Meditations
I say SURROUND YOURSELF WITH YOUR STARS.
WHO ARE YOUR 7 PLEIADES?
Seven dominant masters, great teachers, someone whose life is so inspiring that you want it to be a part of yours?
I don’t know if it’s possible to channel geniuses who are already dead and communicate with them face to face. However, I’m convinced it is more than possible to connect to sources of their inspiration and creativity.
Gentle reminder: If you do not care for your influence, someone else will influence you.
