SPANISH – 24 Hour Challenge
This is my contribution to the 24 Hour Language Challenge. I’ve decided to improve my Spanish.
I want to enrich my vocabulary and have more spontaneity in expressing myself in this language.
Place: Ibiza (Eivissa)
Time frame: 2 days per 12 hours.
Methods & learning approach:
Grammar textbook – just to skim it through, review, and learn the basic use of “subjuntivo” (which I have never really used in Spanish so far)
Textbook with audio – 2000 most frequent words in Spanish
Listening to Spanish songs and reading lyrics – e.g. Canzone del Mariachi is a must :)
Youtube documentaries – e.g. on history (to comprehend better how narration works in terms of past tenses)
Going out and chatting with natives
Browsing bookstores to check how some famous and popular book titles are named in Spanish, what words are used to describe them, and to see how those “catchy” ideas and concepts are expressed in Spanish comparing to their counterparts in some other language.
My idea is that will learn in 3 hour chunks, and taking a break in between. But I don’t have any precise methodology, I will arrange my learning and use the materials based on my feeling and my mood throughout the process of learning. Most improtant is that I will stay enthusiastic and that I will fully utilize 24 hours focusing on improving my Spanish skills.
I plan to record some of my learning and upload it afterwards, and write about the result.
